About the work:
Amhrán Slán (Farewell Song) is a short work based on the tune O’Carolans Farewell by the Irish harper Turlough O’Carolan. O’Carolan traveled around Ireland for about 45 years, largely at the start of the 1700’s, composing and performing his works. As is the case with most of his compositions, the tune O’Carolans Farewell exists only as a single line melody.
