About the work:
Ceol Báisteach Toirneach Tintreach ('Rain-Thunder-Lightning Music' in Irish Gaelic) for solo marimba, was commissioned by and is dedicated to Stacey Duggan. The work was begun in June of 2004 in the Russian city of Tver and was completed in Bloomington, Indiana in August of that year. It is sectioned into five large parts, all based on the same material. The title reflects the various musical characters contained within the contrasting sections.
